The 38th Regiment of the North Carolina Emergency Reserves is seeking volunteer personnel for its 381st Battalion, headquartered in Johnston County. The team hopes to headquarter at least one company-sized unit in the Goldsboro area in 2008.

NCER is an all-volunteer disaster response and recovery organization, with headquarters in Fayetteville.

Of particular interest are former military members, and those who may have backgrounds in first aid, other medical fields, communications, or charity work. All are welcome regardless of expertise, and free training will be provided.

Those interested in serving must be U.S. citizens who are residents of North Carolina and are at least 18 years of age, with no felony convictions. Information may be found online at both www.ncer.us and www.myspace.com/ncerhq. You may also call 919-269-3453 or email ncerpio@yahoo.com.
