A 14-year-old Goldsboro resident is wanted in the non-fatal shooting of a 39-year-old in a parking lot at Courtyard Circle, police say.
Investigator Dave Cloutier said police have obtained charges against the juvenile, but cannot release a name yet.
Cedric McKinney, 39, of South Slocumb Street, said he was shot in the back with a handgun by the juvenile around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Officer John Reinier reported.
McKinney reported he knew the suspect, police said.
A Wayne Memorial Hospital spokeswoman said that McKinney was released after about eight hours of observation on Saturday afternoon after being admitted at 6:30 a.m.
The shooting took place after McKinney ran from the the suspect as he chased him in the 200 block of Courtyard Circle, Reinier said in his report.
McKinney reported the shooting to police about 20 minutes after it occurred, according to the police report.
Reinier, who could not immediately be reached for comment, listed assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury on his report as the likely charge.
Cloutier said Reinier was handling the report, and had "secured charges on a 14-year-old juvenile suspect."
