Arnold Jones to run for Superior Court Judge

Arnold O. Jones II has announced that he will run for the Wayne County senior resident Superior Court judge's seat in 2008.
Jones, 42, the son of the late Judge Arnold Jones, will officially kick off his campaign Oct. 29 at a 6:30 p.m. rally at the Wayne Center on Chestnut Street.
Jones has practiced law since 1991 and operates a law office in downtown Goldsboro.
He earned a degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a law degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law.
His father served as a District Court judge in the 8th Judicial District for 24 years and was its Superior Court judge from 1998 until 2000.
The sitting Superior Court judge for Wayne County is Jerry Braswell, who has held the seat since 2000. The term for a Superior Court judge in North Carolina is eight years.
"Running for Superior Court judge has been something I have considered for several years," Jones said today. "My father having been a judge for so long, and having that example and the legal training that I've had, and having thought about it and prayed about it, I feel like I would like the opportunity to be able to serve the people of Wayne County as their resident Superior Court judge."
