Federal marshals took custody of a Goldsboro murder suspect in Louisville, Ky., Wednesday morning after an investigator here tipped them off, authorities said.

The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Dennis "Crazy Jeff" Cleveland Young, 25, without incident, most likely at the home of a family member in Louisville, Investigator Dave Clou-tier said.

Young has been implicated by police in the murder of Rahkeem Jeffery, 21.

Jeffery has no known Goldsboro address, and police still aren't sure why he was in the city. Cloutier said he recently determined that Jeffery's hometown was Pasiac, N.J., where he had family. He said he has not yet questioned the family.

The investigator said he called Louisville police on Monday to let them know Young might be in the area and was wanted for murder.

Last Monday, police found Jeffery by basketball courts in the Courtyard Circle apartment complex with multiple gunshot wounds that proved fatal.

Jeffery was initially transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

By Friday, police had named Young as the suspect.

Cloutier said Young would be extradited to face the murder charge in Wayne County, but said he didn't know when.

"That'll be something that gets worked out through the district attorney's office," the investigator said.

Jeffery's death was the fifth fatal shooting in Goldsboro's city limits since April.

Young also faces charges fror robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon from another incident, Sgt. Dot Ardes said.

Investigator Dwayne Dean, who is handling that case, could not immediately be reached for comment.
