City man will face charges in murder

MOUNTOLIVE -- Five days after Tamorris Njai Raynor, 34, was gunned down in his front yard in Mount Olive, Windsor Devone Ingram, 20, turned himself in to the Mount Olive Police Department.
Occurring last Monday afternoon at 105 S. Kornegay Street -- originally thought by police to be Raynor's aunt's house -- Chief Ralph Schroeder first reported that the shooting was suspected to be the result of a verbal disagreement.
On Saturday, though, he would not elaborate on any motive or on the ongoing investigation.
"All I can say is that we're still following some leads that originated from the case," he said.
He did confirm, though, that by Thursday, officers had identified Ingram, a Goldsboro resident, as the suspect.
"We had been looking for him at his home and other locations Thursday, but were unable to locate him," Schroeder said. "Eventually his family got hold of him and told him that he needed to turn himself in."
Schroeder also said that Ingram contacted Capt. Tommy Brown, who also advised him to turn himself in.
And at about 3:30 p.m., Friday, Ingram, accompanied by his lawyer Geoff Hulse, did just that.
"Mr. Hulse called me about 12:45 p.m., and I told him that we needed (Ingram) to turn himself in," Schroeder said.
Currently, Ingram is being held in the Wayne County Jail without bond. He is charged with first degree murder.
Raynor's murder was the third in Mount Olive this year, Schroeder said.
