City Council to meet Monday

Goldsboro City Council is expected to hold four public hearings and to condemn four dilapidated buildings at its Monday night meeting.

Two of the public hearings are zoning requests.

The first public hearing will be held on a change in zoning from neighborhood business to general business by Mike Farfour for a property located on the northeast corner of Royall Avenue and Jefferson Avenue. The property has been used as an automobile repair garage, and the rezoning would allow for more extensive vehicle repairs and outdoor vehicle storage.

For the second hearing, Noble Real Estate Investments is requesting to change their property, located on the south side of Central Heights Road between McLain Drive and North Oak Forest Road, from residential to office and institutional zoning.

The third public hearing will be held for a requested conditional use permit. S.T. Wooten is requesting the permit to allow for construction and operation of a concrete plant at property located on the north side of U.S. Highway 70 West between Springwood Drive and J&L Drive.

The last hearing will be held to allow citizens to review the city's Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report, showing how the city used its entitlement funds during the most recently completed program year.

Council members are also expected to approve demolition of three dilapidated dwellings and one dilapidated building.

The dwellings expected to be approved for demolition are located at 210 N. Carolina St., 807 W. Paul St. and 1013 Slaughter St.

The dilapidated building is located at 114 S. Slocumb St.

Council will also set three public hearings for requested annexation of three properties.

The first includes 30.35 acres located on the east side of Cuyler Best Road between New Hope Road and North Park Drive. The second, located on the west side of Wayne Memorial Drive between New Hope Road and Tommy's Road, is 32.42 acres. The third is made up of 10 acres and is located at the northeast corner of Gateway Drive and Commerce Court.

Other consent agenda items include a budget ordinance amendment for a Homeland Security Grant, revision of administrative fees for demolition of dilapidated houses, adoption of a supplement to the city code of ordinances and departmental reports.

In other business, Daryl Woodard will speak about the upcoming Youth Violence Awareness Summit sponsored by SCFY Inc. and the Wayne County Public Schools.
