Accident

Goldsboro police charged a tractor trailer driver with a safe movement violation, and a passenger was treated for injuries after the truck driver bumped the vehicle and ended up pushing it 473 feet broadside Saturday afternoon on West Grantham Street.

The truck driver, Jerome Nathaniel Archible of Raleigh, said he was trying to merge into the right lane of travel and didn't see the other motorist while they were going east on West Grantham just past Claridge Nursery Road. The driver of the car, Barbara Rhodes Williams of Garner, and one of her two passengers were not hurt. But 20-year-old Jaquetta Williams was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Archible's 2005 International rig sustained $4,000 damage. Ms. Williams' 1997 Nissan sustained $8,000 damage.

Robbed

Brandy Smith of John Street told Goldsboro police a man assaulted her and robbed her of $215 in cash while they were riding in a car on Royall Avenue about 11 p.m. Saturday. The report said the man struck ms. Smith several times with his fist and grabbed the money out of her purse. There had been no arrest in the incident this morning before presstime.
