Wayne Community College's trustees have approved two new vice presidents, completing the college's administrative cabinet.

The two women, currently employed with the N.C. Community College System, are scheduled to start at the college on Oct. 1.

Dr. Linda Nelms, the system's Educational Consultant/Distance Learning Coordinator, will become the college's vice president for student services. She will be responsible for admissions and records, counseling, testing, financial aid, student activities and recruiting, and cooperative education and job placement services.

Dr. Peggy S. Teague, curriculum program coordinator for the system, will become vice president for academic affairs. Her duties will include supervising the curriculum instructional and support services including all of the college's academic divisions, library, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base programs and the Academic Skills Center.

The two positions, merged into one a couple of years ago, are being split again to better serve the students, said Dr. Kay Albertson, who held the combined vice president post until becoming president on July 1.

Calling the positioning an exciting and challenging time for the college, Dr. Albertson said the two new hires will bring unique talents and skills to Wayne Community.

"Both have experience with individual community colleges and the community college system that makes them perfect candidates for these positions. We are indeed fortunate to have them joining our team," she said.
