Three passengers hurt
on Royall Avenue
A driver and three passengers in the other car, including a 3-year-old child, were injured in a collision around midnight Saturday on Royall Avenue.
The driver, Kayla Lashawn Howard of East Walnut Street, and the other vehicle's passengers, Shiquita McArthur, 22, and Zaikira McArthur, 3, both of Fairview Circle, and Jermaine Hairston, 20, of another address on Fairview Circle, were treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Goldsboro police charged Kimberly Lenora Crudup of Maple Street with careless and reckless driving and failure to carry after the collision, which occurred between the Wayne County School Administration Offices and the fire station. Ms. Crudup was going west when she lost control of her 2005 Chevrolet and veered into the eastbound lane occupied by a 2003 Ford driven by Ms. Howard, according to the report. The Chevrolet struck the Ford's rear quarter panel and went down the embankment to the railroad tracks.
Damage was estimated at $3,200 to the Chevrolet and $2,000 to the Ford.
Investigations
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the following reports:
*Robin Riddle of Old N.C. 111 received three stitches for a dog bite wound she received from one of her clients Friday. Ms. Riddle said she had gone to the home of a client on East Walnut Street around 7:30 p.m. to take care of the animal. When she approached the fence, she put her hand over it for the dog to sniff. But when she pulled her hand back to open the gate, the dog bit her. The 3-year-old German shepherd was secured in the fence, and the owners notified. Ms. Riddle said the shepherd, Zoe, is current on all shots and vaccines.
*Police are investigating a felony breaking, entering and larceny at the North Carolina Street home of Carolyn Carlene Winbush. Her son, James Robert Winbush, of Lockhaven Drive, said a burglar did $100 worth of damage by breaking out the window to gain entry to the home. Items reported stolen included jewelry, a Weedeater and a hedge trimmer, all valued at $1,200. The Weedeater and hedge trimmer were recovered. The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, weighing about 140 pounds and skinny with long dreadlocks.
*McCalls Bar-B-Que Seafood at 139 Miller's Chapel Road reported a larceny by employee Friday morning. The total amount of money taken, over a period of time, came to $1,750.
*There was no sign of forced entry when Epigina Reid Jones discovered somebody had entered her East Holly Street home and stole her $15 silver jewelry box containing $925 worth of jewelry. It was last seen the afternoon of Aug. 26. She discovered the box missing Friday morning.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating the following reports:
*Daniel Lee Lewis reported someone entered his home in the 1100 block St. John's Church Road and stole a 12-gauge shotgun, a Nintendo Gameboy, jewelry and other items, all valued at $1,000.
*Thieves broke into the home of Steve Timothy Lanning of Eucraine Drive, LaGrange, and stole two televisions, three CD players, a shop air compressor, a window air conditioner, a buffer, a jigsaw, a drill, two circular saws and a Weedeater, all valued at $6,340. The items were last seen Friday morning. The break-in was discovered that afternoon.
*Another break-in was reported Friday morning at the Hood Swamp Road home of Jay William Bossert. The house was last secured Thursday afternoon. Items reported taken included a television, a rifle, a shotgun, a remote control jeep, a microwave and a fireproof safe, all valued at $1,520. Damage to the window screen was $100.
