City Council meets tonight

Goldsboro City Council members are expected to discuss the possible condemnations of nine dilapidated houses at Monday night's meeting.
Building inspectors are expected to recommend condemnation and demolition of properties located at 700 Crawford St., 1014 N. John St., 413 W. Mulberry St., 501 Dail St., 113 E. Dewey St., 108 N. Slocumb St., 314 Whitfield Dr., 710 Slaughter St. and 425 Wayne Ave.
The council also will also hold two public hearings at tonight's meeting.
The first hearing will be held about a request made by Harry Ivey and Ivey/Swain to change an industrial and business park to a shopping center on the east side of Oak Forest Road between U.S. Highway 70 and Gateway Drive.
The second will be held about a zoning request from Seventy West Commercial Park to change a general business and residential zoning to general industry zoning on the north side of U.S. Highway 70 West between Springwood Drive and J&L Drive.
Councilmembers will also decide on engineering design improvements to the Neuse River intake, a computerized signal system and budget amendments for the Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnerships Programs.
In other business, the council will look at a draft of the Stoney Creek Local Watershed Plan by KCI Technologies as well as hear Lieutenant General Karl Eikenberry speak about the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and its military activities and challenges.
Members will also discuss a traffic signal on Patetown Road.
