If you think you've got talent, don't miss the auditions for the Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers second annual Wayne's Most Talented singing competition.
Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers will hold auditions for the competition on Aug. 25 at Wayne Community College's Moffatt Auditorium.
Registration will start at 11:30 a.m. and auditions will begin at 1 p.m. The competition is open to those who live or work in Wayne County. Proof of age and residency will be required at registration.
Performers that are under the age of 18 will need parental permission. Registration forms and parental permission forms will be available online beginning Monday via the World Wide Web at www.gwcs.org or www.pacc10tv.com.
Registration is free and the contest is open to individuals and groups, said Sgt. Dot Ardes, law enforcement coordinator and police supervisor at the Goldsboro Police Department.
There will be two categories this year: 15 and under; and 16 and older. Performers may sing a cappella with a CD music track or they may accompany themselves on guitar.
At the audition, a panel of three judges will select the top 25 from the 16-and-over age group, and the top 10 from the 15-and-under age group, she said.
Those selected will perform in front of a live audience on Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. at Wayne Community College. Admission is $5 and participants will vote to narrow the field of 16 and over performers down to 20.
Videos of the live performances of the top 10 junior singers and the top 20 adult singers will be shown during the 22nd annual Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers Telethon, which will air on Nov. 10 from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Nov. 11 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Time Warner Cable's PACC-10TV.
During the telethon, viewers can vote for their favorite performer by calling in and pledging a contribution to Crime Stoppers.
A pledge of $10 will get one vote; $25 will buy three votes; $50 will buy three votes and a DVD copy of the performances; and $100 will buy four votes and a DVD.
The performer in the 16-and-over category who receives the most votes will win $1,000 cash and free time in a recording studio at Tutt Productions in Kinston.
The performer in the 15-and-under category who receives the most votes will win $300 cash and free time in a recording studio at Tutt Productions in Kinston.
