RALEIGH -- Peace College is accepting applications for a new evening teacher education program designed to help area working adults earn licensure to teach.

The program is designed to be convenient for working professionals -- including teaching assistants and other school system employees -- to enroll and participate.

Employees of many area school systems -- including Wayne County -- are eligible for special assistance that makes the program very affordable.

The college's evening program is specifically designed for people who already have bachelor's degrees and are seeking licensure credentials. The program is unique in that it offers preparation for dual licensure in Elementary Education (K-6) and Special Education: General Curriculum (K-12).

To qualify for the program, applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 or higher.
