A Seven Springs man died from severe head injuries he received when he was ejected from his vehicle in a rollover crash on Sunday afternoon.
Alberto Felipe, 28, succumbed to his injuries at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville on Monday night.
He was severely injured while traveling west on Pineview Cemetery Road at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Felipe, who lived on Pineview Cemetery Road, lost control of his green Chevy Blazer and ran into a residential yard, striking the house, Trooper Sgt. K.W. Cook said.
His SUV overturned several times, tossing him from the vehicle. No other passengers were in the vehicle, officials said.
Speed and alcohol contributed to the accident, Cook said. Felipe also was not wearing a seat belt, he added.
Felipe was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital by Wayne County Emergency Medical Services. He was later flown by air ambulance to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where he later died.
