Investigations
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating these reports:
*Rex Smith said Friday that the trailer holding his race car at Smith's Equipment Company on North William Street had been broken into and more than $8,000 worth of eqiupment damaged or stolen. Among the items were four Motorola radios, a Black and Decker drill, a welder and a band saw.
*William Francis Heywood reported that upon leaving a store Friday afternoon on North Madison Avenue he realized his bike had been stolen. He said he was then assaulted by several unknown assailants.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating these reports:
*Jazell Westley Henderson of Beverly Drive reported Friday that someone had stolen her 1980 pickup truck. It is blue and white with large tires and a camper, but it does not run. It was last seen on July 12 when a known associate had it towed to Durham Lake Road for her while she was moving.
*James Joel Allen of Winsor Drive reported that when he and his wife returned home Friday night, they found their house had been broken into by unknown suspects. More than $5,000 worth of jewlery, electronics and guns were stolen, including a Remington 30-06 with scope, a Sentinel .22 caliber pistol and two shotguns. The house had last been secured at 12:30 p.m., Friday.
*James H. Hicks reported someone stole his 24 speed bike, valued at $400, from the parking lot at a business at 518 E. Elm St.
*Someone broke into a warehouse at 1226 N. William St. and stole several radios, a welding tank, a helmet and other items, all valued at $8,300.
*Casandra Denise Wood, 34, reported that a man known to her assaulted her and then stole her car keys and bank card at her home in the 500 block of Elm Street.
*Verneita Dorien Hargrove said she was assaulted by a man she knows and got into a fight with him, eventually stabbing him with a pair of scissors. Timothy Leroy Durham, 39, of Bryan Boulevard was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.
