A Seven Springs woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Eneas Lanier Road near Lyman Road in Chinquapin Sunday when she lost control of her vehicle.
Laura Melinda Pringle Dupree, 44, was behind the wheel of a green 1997 Pontiac Firebird at about 11 a.m. when she crossed the centerline while traveling east on Eneas Lanier Road and overcorrected to the right, Trooper J.M. Gurganus said.
"She ran off the road to the right and struck three pine trees," Gurganus said.
Mrs. Dupree was the only one in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Units from the Chinquapin and Lyman fire departments, Duplin County EMS and Duplin County Highway Patrol responded to the accident to render aid to the patient. She died at the scene, officials said.
Gurganus said Mrs. Dupree was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. He said overcorrecting on the driver's part and speed contributed to the crash.
