The Goldsboro News-Argus is announcing a retirement and a promotion in its advertising department.
Advertising Manager Roger Stephenson has announced his retirement after more than eight years of service to the News-Argus and 40-plus years in the newspaper business.
He is being replaced by Becky Nye, who currently serves as the newspaper's new business development manager.
She has been with the newspaper since 2002.
News-Argus Publisher Hal Tanner Jr. said Stephenson will assist with the transition.
"We are pleased for Roger Stephenson that he is in a position to retire early and pursue more time with his family and to perfect his golf game. He has devoted the last eight years to the News-Argus and his willingness to assist in the transition through the rest of this year certainly will make the change easier. We wish him the best in the future.
"At the same time, we are pleased to have someone of Becky Nye's background and ability already on our staff and in a position to move into the advertising director's position. Her background includes management experience in both retail and classified advertising in both small and metropolitan newspapers in four different states."
