No decision on possible murder charges

Goldsboro police say they will withhold a decision to charge a suspect in Sunday's shooting death of Marcus Antwon McKinnon until investigator's reports and a report from the state medical examiner's office have been completed.
Officers responded to 501 E. Walnut St. early Sunday and found McKinnon, 28, dead, and David Reid of Walnut Street wounded.
Police have released few details about the case, including the name of the suspect, the type of weapon used or a possible motive. However, on Wednesday they released the following statement.
"After meeting with officials at the district attorney's office, no charging decisions have been made for the shooting death of Marcus McKinnon. A final decision will be made after all police reports and lab reports are completed by the Office of the State Medical Examiner."
McKinnon's murder occurred in less than 24 hours after local parishioners and leaders of the NAACP walked through the streets of Goldsboro trailing a hearse to condemn violence during a "Stop the Funeral" march.
The march was in response to the shooting deaths of 23-year-old Raheim Kornegay and 28-year-old Sharon Sheppard in April.
Sunday's murder was the fourth fatal shooting in the city of Goldsboro within the last 12 weeks. So far this year, 12 people have died in County from an act of violence.
McKinnon's death comes just four months after he was shot in the face by an unknown suspect on the same block where he was later murdered.
