Memorial service for former officer

A memorial service for retired Sgt. Ronald Melvin of the Goldsboro Police Department will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park on U.S. 117 South.
Melvin will be honored by the Wayne County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 62, of which he was a charter member. Melvin served almost 30 years with the Goldsboro Police Department. He died last year after a long illness. The public is invited, along with his friends and law enforcement officers.
