Rape charge
A Goldsboro man sought in the rape of a local woman was arrested Sunday at his home. Melvin Joseph Plummer, 31, of Taylor Street, was charged with second-degree rape for allegedly sexual assaulting a woman last week. The woman did not know her attacker, according to the police report. Noticeable tattoos on the suspect and information disseminated to local news agencies aided in his arrest.

*Goldsboro police are searching for a man who struck a man in the head with a gun and then stole his wallet. The victim, Mick Junior Worrells reported the incident occurred Saturday in the 900 block of Evergreen Avenue. The victim received a laceration on the head during the assault. He received medical treatment by Wayne County EMS, but was not transported to the hospital.
*Otonius Tyron Raynor reported someone robbed him at gunpoint Saturday in the 600 block of West Oak Street and stole $267 and his billfold.
Thefts
*Dwight B. Cannon, pastor of St. James A.M.E. Zion, 201 S. George St., reported someone broke into his tan 2000 Mercedes C280 parked at his home in the 200 block of South Virginia Street and stole three personal checks totaling $900, $150 and a black gym bag.
*Veronica Bernadette Simmons reported someone broke into her blue 2003 GMC van and stole a 20-inch Plasma TV, valued at $2,000 bond.
*Contonnia Maria Crawford reported someone broke into her home in the 600 block of Sherard Court and stole a stereo, two DVD players, a Sony PlayStation 2 with games and other items, all valued at $890.
*Someone broke into the Time Warner Cable office in the 1500 block of Wayne Memorial Drive. Damage to the door glass window was set at $300. No items were taken, according to the report.
*Henry A. Simmons reported someone broke into his home in the 2600 block of Norwood Avenue and stole a Remington 12-gauge shotgun, an air compressor and $20 cash. The items were valued at $500.
*Someone broke into Dukes Beauty Supply in the 500 block of East Ash Street over the weekend. No items were taken, according to the report.
*Kevin Olin Sauls reported someone broke into his green 1993 Chevy S-10 parked at 1815 Wayne Memorial Drive and stole a black purse, $500 cash, Oxycontin pills, Oxycodone pills, a wallet and several other items.
