A Children's Festival for families of young children will be held Saturday.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Herman Park and the Wayne County Public Library, the event centers around "Born Learning," a national public awareness campaign promoting early learning opportunities.

The festival is sponsored by The Partnership for Children of Wayne County and funded through United Way. In addition to activities in the park, three storytelling sessions will be held at the library, led by popular characters Curious George and Madeline. Sessions are offered at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. The first 100 children at each session will be given wooden train whistles.

At Herman Park, free train rides will be offered on the Kiwanis miniature train, along with a petting zoo, face painting and moonwalk. Booths will be set up by several agencies, with refreshments available and prizes given away.

Educational materials on Born Learning are available at the Partnership office, 800 N. William Street, as well as through physicians' offices and other outlets around the county.
