Christopher “Play” Martin, half of the 1980s hip-hop and comedy duo Kid N’ Play and now a motivational speaker based in Durham, speaks to Brogden Middle School students for their end-of-grade test pep rally Monday. The two musicians and actors amicably split during the mid-1990s with Kid continuing to act and Play becoming a born-again Christian, devoting his time to working on Christian-based hip-hop music and youth-oriented projects.
