Food drive part of Saturday air show

As officials at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base prepare to welcome a crowd they say might eclipse the 100,000-mark for Saturday's Wings Over Wayne air show, a 4th Fighter Wing airman is getting ready, too.
With the help of his wife, Margee, and others from the base, Airfield Manager Tech. Sgt. Tim McKenna is organizing a food drive for the day of the show.
Those who attend the air show are asked to donate if they have the means to -- a can of food to be dropped off upon entrance that will feed someone right here in Wayne County, McKenna said.
"There might be as many as 100,000 people coming to the air show," he said. "If 10 percent give, that's 10,000 cans."
Once collected, the goods will be distributed to charitable organizations in Wayne County -- the Community Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army and more.
McKenna said "every little bit helps," and hopes to see thousands of pounds of food come in for Wayne's less fortunate.
"Anything people can do would be appreciated," he said.
