WCC honor society recognized

The Upsilon Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Wayne Community College earned honors in eight categories at the annual Carolinas Regional Convention.

Also, Michelle Rogers was named 2007-08 regional vice-president for the two-year college scholastic honorary organization. She is chapter president at WCC.

The chapter received the following recognitions:

*Five Star Program for meeting quality programming. The chapter will be recognized at the 2007 International Convention in Nashville, Tenn.

*Carolinas Super Stars, for chapters who completed various established activities set forth by the regional coordinator and officers.

*Carolinas Four Clover Challenge, to encourage chapter participation in education/awareness, recycling, beautification and clean communities.

*Scholarship Hallmark Award, for superior chapter achievement in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship

*Pinnacle Award, for enhancing recruitment and orientation strategies.

*Most Improved Chapter, based on participation in the Five-Star Chapter Development Program and chapter leadership.

*Carolinas Hall of Honor, with Ms. Rogers and Rebecca Mooney, vice president of leadership, both receiving commendations

*Horizon Award, presented to advisors with less than 5 years of service. Adviser Lorie Waller was a recipient.
