There will still be Angels in the skies over Goldsboro and Wayne County May 12.

Fourth Fighter Wing officials confirmed this morning that the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, plan to perform at Wings Over Wayne as scheduled.

"The Navy Blue Angels have informed us that they are planning to come to Wings Over Wayne," Capt. Tana Stevenson, the Fourth's public affairs chief, said. "We are delighted that they will be able to make our air show."

Questions regarding the team's participation in the event surfaced after its No. 6 jet crashed Saturday during a performance over Beaufort, S.C., killing pilot Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Davis and causing damage to several buildings on the ground.

The team has canceled its appearance scheduled for this weekend in Vidalia, Ga., but it is still unclear whether Seymour Johnson will be the team's first show back.

The Angels are scheduled to perform May 5 at Nebraska's Offutt Air Force Base.
