The Goldsboro Police Department is trying to find out who shot into a Goldsboro man's car and sent him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries shortly after midnight Saturday. Masonic Harvey, 24, of Wilmington Avenue was sitting in his 2001 Ford Crown Victoria in the 600-block of Corney Street when a witness said the unknown black man just walked up to the car and shot him. He was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating these reports:
*Detectives are investigating the theft of a $4,200 four-wheeler from a residence on Selah Church Road. Owner Danny Eugene McCullen of Blue Ridge Drive in Dudley said the four-wheeler was taken some time between Thursday and Friday afternoon. But the joke is on the thief. The four-wheeler has an electronic transmission and will not shift without the key, which locks all four wheels.
*Somebody busted out the window and lit a fire at the front door to Black Jack Grove Church at 341 Black Jack Church Road some time after 10 a.m. Friday. The damage was found around 2 p.m. the same day. The report said partially-burned gas-soaked rags were found at the door. There was no damage from the fire.
*Landlady Leatha Katherine Lawrence of New Hope Road said some time after she evicted tenants from her rental property on Dollardtown Road somebody broke in and ransacked the place, burning the carpet and stealing a counter top with rollers. The property was last secured March 20, and the break-in was discovered Friday. Damage came to $1,500.
*A plant bandit made away with almost $400 worth of freshly-planted trees and flowers from the home of Dave L. Cuddeback of Nottingham Drive. He told investigators Friday morning the thief put the mulch back down over the holes in the dirt after taking two holly trees, a fiscus, six juniper and 10 lilies. They even took a hanging basket with a fern in it.
