County battles big chill

Ice covers a field of strawberries on U.S. 117 South Sunday morning in the Mar-Mac area. The sprinklers were used to form a coat of ice over the plants to protect them from the tempertures that dipped into the mid-20s before sunrise. These berries belong to Roy Cottle of Faison.
