Author will speak to Friends of the Library

Author and humorist Celia Rivenbark will be the speaker at the annual meeting of the Friends of the Wayne County Public Library.

The meeting will be April 17 at 7 p.m. in the Gertrude Weil Auditorium at the Main Library, 1001 E. Ash St.

Mrs. Rivenbark is an award-winning newspaper columnist and author of three books. Her Southeast Book Sellers Association best-seller, "Bless Your Heart,Tramp," was nominated for the James Thurber Prize in 2001. Her second book, "We're Just Like You, Only Prettier," published by St. Martin's Press, was the winner of the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance Nonfiction Book of the Year and was a finalist for the James Thurber Prize for American Humor. And her most recent creation, also from St. Martin's Press, is the 2006 "Stop Dressing your Six-Year-Old Like a Skank."

Mrs. Rivenbark is a Duplin County native who lives in Wilmington with her husband and daughter.

This event is free and open to the public.

Friends of the Wayne County Public Library is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to enriching the programs and services at the library.
