Man faces statutory rape charge

A 54-year-old Wayne County man faces statutory rape charges in connection with his alleged relationship with a 14-year-old girl, authorities said.
Senus Lofton of Prayer House Lane in Dudley was charged with one count of statutory rape in connection with the case, Wayne County Sheriff's Maj. George Raecher said.
He was placed in the Wayne County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
Lofton was charged with statutory rape because he allegedly had sex with the 14-year-old, Raecher said.
A person under 16 years of age cannot consent to a sex act with an adult under the eyes of the law, he explained.
