Confederate re-enactors demonstrate how to shoot a cannon during a living history program at the Bentonville Battleground Historic Site this past weekend. Pictured from left are Johnny Carter, Milton Britt, Abraham Wiles, Donny Taylor and Fred Bugess. The re-enactment of the Battle of Bentonville drew re-enactors and spectators to the site of the 1865 battle that pitted Union troops advancing on Goldsboro under the command of Gen. William T. Sherman against a hodgepodge of Confederate forces in the last major battle of the Civil War.
