Jaycees seeking nominees

The Goldsboro Jaycees are accepting nominations through the end of the month for local outstanding citizens in a variety of categories.
Each nominee will be recognized locally and will be eligible to compete at the state level.
Every nominee must meet certain criteria for the category he or she has been nominated for.
Outstanding teenager nominees must currently be a senior in high school, have a grade point average at or above 3.0, must exemplify leadership and be active in the community.
The outstanding educator must be employed teaching any grade between kindergarten and 12th grade.
An outstanding farmer nominee must be someone who derives at least two-thirds of his or her income through farming.
The community's outstanding public servant must be a correctional officer, firefighter, law enforcement officer or rescuer who has achieved success and leadership in his or her field and is currently active in the community through civic work.
The outstanding senior citizen award honors a local resident over 60 years old who has shown exemplary leadership qualities over his or her lifetime.
The Jaycees will also accept nominations for the outstanding boss of the year. The chosen employer is someone who has given meritorious service to his or her family, church, community, nation and the Jaycees organization.
Nominees for the outstanding North Carolinian are people who have demonstrated exemplary qualities of leadership during their lifetime.
The age requirements for the outstanding educator, farmer and North Carolinian nominations is a person between the ages of 21 and 40 as of Jan. 1.
Applications for nominations are available at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce at 308 N. William St. Those applications can be submitted at the Chamber of Commerce building or be mailed to the Goldsboro Jaycees at P.O. Box 463, Goldsboro, N.C., 27533. The deadline for submitting applications is March 31.
