Wayne County Animal Control will hold four rabies clinics at local schools over the next two Saturdays.

Having a pet vaccinated is required by state law. Every dog and cat over four months old must be vaccinated. Those animals must then receive another dose a year later and every three years thereafter.

The county's first clinic will be held Saturday, March 17 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Grantham Elementary School. Later that day, from 1-3 p.m., another clinic will be held at the old Pikeville School building.

On Saturday, March 24, a clinic will be held at Eastern Wayne High School from 8:30-10:30 a.m. The afternoon clinic will be held from 1-3 p.m. at Southern Wayne High School.

All rabies vaccinations will cost $5 each.

Proof of a prior rabies vaccination is required for an animal to receive a three-year vaccination. If that proof is not provided, the animal will be given a one-year vaccination.
