Wayne County residents have less than 24 hours to help a young local singer win a chance to appear live on national TV.
Madeline Edwards, 11, is one of three finalists in the CBS's The Early Show's "Living Room ... Live! Kids" talent competition. Online voting ends Wednesday at noon.
The winner will be announced Thursday on the show and will be brought to New York City next week to perform live before millions of viewers.
Madeline, a student at Eastern Wayne Middle School, submitted a video of her singing an opera song, "O Mio Babbino Caro," from an opera by Puccini. She has said she aspires to become an opera singer.
Madeline is competing against an 8-year-old Raleigh girl, Katherine Fritsch, who sang the Star-Spangled Banner, and a 12-13-year-old rock band from Oklahoma.
Voters can cast ballots as many times as they wish. To vote, go to www.cbsnews.com and click on The Early Show and then on "Living Room ... Live! Kids."
