SEVEN SPRINGS -- A local man was killed Saturday when he ran off the road, rolled into a field and was thrown from his pickup, Highway Patrol officials said.
William Lopez, 24, was traveling north on Drummersville Road when he lost control of his vehicle while coming out of a curve on Daly Chapel Road at about 4:15 a.m., Trooper C.T. Williams said.
The Seven Springs resident ran off the road, overcorrected and crossed the center line. He struck a ditch and overturned.
As his 2004 Toyota pickup rolled into an open field, Lopez was thrown from the vehicle. He died at the scene.
Lopez was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report. Speed played a factor and alcohol is suspected in the one-vehicle crash, Williams added. No other occupants were in the truck, officials said.
Troopers say a toxicology report will determine whether Lopez was under the influence of alcohol at the time. His death is the second traffic-related fatality in Wayne County this year, officials said
