RALEIGH -- Geraldine Tucker, wife of state Rep. Russell Tucker, D-Duplin County, was elected vice president of the Sir Walter Cabinet earlier this month.

The Cabinet is comprised of the spouses of the members of the General Assembly and other high state officials.

In her role, she will help lead the cabinet in its 80th Biennium term as it seeks to promote interaction between spouses of legislators and state officials. Previously, she had served as the corresponding secretary of the Sir Walter Cabinet.

The goal of the Sir Walter Cabinet is to contribute to the good of the state and its citizens. Among the organizations the cabinet contributes to annually are the state Museum of History, the state Museum of Art, and the state Museum of Natural Sciences.
