Construction of a crossover at the intersection of U.S. 70 east and Beston Road is being opposed by a number of neighborhood residents and business owners, who say they want a stoplight instead. Highway officials say the crossover might be inconvenient but that it will prevent accidents at the crossroads, which has been the scene of several traffic deaths in recent years.
