Marijuana found in murder victim's car

Goldsboro police found 12 bags of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the car of the man who was fatally shot in his car Feb. 4 -- allegedly by three Dudley teens.
Karemond Abdullah Spells, 30, of Goldsboro, was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head in the driver's seat of his burgundy 1985 Nissan Maxima. Police responded to the area located in the West Haven community shortly before midnight on Super Bowl Sunday.
Wayne County Emergency Medical Services transported Spells to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment, but later transferred him to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville at the request of Wayne Memorial Hospital's ER doctor, Dr. Hervy Kornegay Jr. who noted Spells was in serious condition.
Spells later died at Pitt Memorial Feb. 5.
Goldsboro police arrested Marcus Antwan Graham, 16, Davon Samuel Cobb, 19, both of Clint Drive in Dudley, and Michael Jahmel Allen, 18, of Canterbury Court in Dudley, for murder.
They are being held at the Wayne County Jail without bond.
During the investigation, police executed a search warrant of the vehicle Spells was allegedly shot in and found a brown wallet containing $45 in the top of the trunk, a set of keys in the console, a disposable camera, a black cell phone, and a bullet fragment in the dashboard, according to court records.
Spells did not own the car that he was shot in.
Police also found 12 bags of a "green vegetative matter" and two boxes of small plastic baggies, records show.
Police have declined to release a possible motive for the shooting, whether the incident was gang-related or what type of weapon was used.
Spells had an extensive arrest record for felony drug possession, resisting arrest and other charges. At the time of his murder, Spells was due to appear in court to answer a possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana charge.
