MOUNT OLIVE -- A program designed to shed light on the issue of eating disorders is planned for Tuesday at Mount Olive College.
The program will be held in the Southern Bank Auditorium in Raper Hall beginning at 7 p.m. There will be three featured speakers, including a faculty member from the UNC Eating Disorder Program; a mother who lost her daughter to anorexia; and a distance runner from who overcame an eating disorder and is training for the Boston Marathon.
With the issue gaining more prominence and affecting all ages, male and female, athletes and artists, officials at the college said it is a worthwhile discussion topic.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day is this month, school officials noted, creating a good time to bring attention to the problem.
