A Goldsboro man will face charges for allegedly sexually molesting a family member more than a decade ago.
Ronald Charles Dotter, 69, of Kelly Court, was charged Sunday with three counts of first-degree statutory sex offense with a child after a report was filed Saturday. He was being held in the Wayne County Jail on a $300,000 secured bond.
Wayne County Sheriff's Lt. Tom Effler said Dotter's high bond is not uncommon for these types of crimes.
"This is a 10-year-old case," Effler said. "The charges involve a family member."
Although the incident allegedly happened some time ago, officials said Dotter could still be charged for those crimes today. The victim was 4 years old at the time and was a relative of Dotter's. He did not deny the allegations, officials said.
"There's no statute of limitations on any felony cases," Effler said.
Dotter was only charged with three counts at present, but more charges are pending through Grand Jury indictments, he said.
Detective Sgt. Tammy Odom is in charge of the case.
