Goldsboro police are searching for the gunman who murdered a Raleigh man late Sunday.
Karemond Abdullah Spells, 30, of Faber Drive, Raleigh, died this morning at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, from complications from a gunshot wound he received Sunday.
Goldsboro police responded to the 100 block of Astor Court about 11:57 p.m. after gunshots were heard in the area and found Spells in his burgundy older-model Nissan Maxima suffering from a gunshot wound, Goldsboro police Sgt. Dot Ardes said.
Spells was transported by Wayne County Emergency Medical Services to Wayne Memorial Hospital and later transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, where he later died, Ms. Ardes said.
Ardes said police are unsure who fired the fatal bullets. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255 or Investigator Doug Bethea at 580-4214.
Investigations
Audre Barnes told Goldsboro police that a white man snatched her purse and forced her to the ground during a struggle outside Friendly Check Cashing at 408 E. Ash St. Ms. Barnes said the purse snatching occurred on Saturday just minutes after she cashed her check at the business.
Accident
Nora Jean Bunn of Chestnut Street was injured when her U-haul truck collided with a bridge while traveling north on Carolina Street Friday. Bunn was traveling at 25 mph at impact, officers said. Ms. Bunn was taken by Wayne County Emergency Medical Services personnel to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment of nonlife threatening injuries. Ms. Bunn's U-haul sustained $4,000 in damage. Bunn was cited for failure to reduce speed.
