Hines is being sought on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and firing into an occupied property, and police are asking for the public's help to apprehend the suspect.

Investigators have determined that Mitchell was driving north, not south, in the 500 block of Slocumb Street in his green 1993 Ford Explorer about 1:45 p.m. when the suspect allegedly fired at him.

At least one bullet from a large caliber weapon pierced the driver's side of the front windshield and struck Mitchell in the face.

Mitchell then allegedly drove to his home on South Kornegay Street and called for help.

He was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Anyone with information about the shooting or Hines' whereabouts is asked to call Investigator Doug Bethea at 580-4214 or call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
