She made it to next round in TV contest

Madeline Edwards, 11, of Goldsboro, advanced to the final round of competition in CBS TV's "Living Room .... Live! Kids" today, easily defeating her two opponents with more than 42 percent of the online votes cast.
The 11-year-old classical singer will now get a chance to compete against two other finalists for a chance to appear on the morning TV show.
Meanwhile, a video of a second local girl, 10-year-old Samantha Casey, was broadcast on the network's Early Show today as part of another first-round competition in the talent contest.
Samantha played a bluegrass tune, "Beaumont Rag" on the fiddle. People can vote for her through Wednesday at noon by going to www.cbsnews.com.
Samantha was competing against two other instrumentalists: Kathleena Hutchins, 15, of Melbourne, Ark., who played the "William Tell Overture" on the harmonica, and Anton Oliverio of Buffalo, N.Y., who played the drums.
The winner will advance to a second round of competition.
Madeline was competing against other first-round winners Anthony Gargiula of Glenmont, N.Y., and the three-boy band, Stuck on Stupid, from Scotia, N.Y.
Madeline, a student at Eastern Wayne Middle School, is the daughter of Michael and Kelli Edwards of Goldsboro.
Samantha, a student at St. Mary School, is the daughter of Daniel and Judy Casey of Pine Level.
