CBS News did not air "Living Room ... Live! Kids" today.
Madeline Edwards, 11, of Goldsboro was to have performed via video on the morning broadcast of The Early Show as part of the second round of competition. An opera singer, she will sing "O Mio Babbino Caro."
Her father, Michael, said later this morning that he was unable to reach CBS producers to find out why the performances of Madeline and the other two first-round winners was not shown, but that he believes the attention paid to the funeral for former president Gerald Ford played a part in it.
Michael Edwards said he does not know when Madeline will perform and that fans should just tune in day to day to be sure not to miss it. Edwards added that if he learns of a new date for her performance he will notify The News-Argus.
If Madeline wins this round she would advance to the finals. Winners are determined by online voters. Edwards pointed out that voters can cast more than one ballot.
A video by another Wayne County girl, Samantha Casey, who plays the fiddle, has also been chosen by the CBS producers to compete in "Living Room ... Live! Kids." Samantha performance was scheduled to be broadcast on Monday in another first-round competition.
