A new health-care technology that monitors the location as well as status of equipment has been implemented at Wayne Memorial Hospital, officials said.
RadarFind Real Time Location System is designed to track equipment quickly and efficiently. This summer, Wayne became one of the first hospitals in the world to implement the system for its IV pumps and have since expanded to include wheelchairs, beds, pulse oximeters and its computers on wheels. The system will be extended even further in the future and will combine the best of both clinical and technical worlds, said Tom Bradshaw, vice-president of operations at the hospital.
RadarFind is already benefitting several departments, including biomedical engineering, the central sterile staff, and those in the nursing and transport areas. The transport staff can quickly locate wheelchairs through the system, increasing efficiency, officials said.
