Wallace doctor named Family Physician of Year

WALLACE -- Dr. Mott P. Blair IV of Wallace has been named the state Family Physician of the Year by the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Blair is a graduate of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and is in private practice in Wallace.
He comes from a long tradition of family medicine in eastern North Carolina. His father, the late Dr. Seaborn Blair Sr., practiced medicine in Duplin County for many years. His brother, Dr. Seaborn Blair, practices in Oriental, and their sister, Dr. Elizabeth Blair, practices in Greenville.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Blair has found time to serve on the Duplin County Board of Education and the Wallace Chamber of Commerce and is team physician for the Wallace-Rose Hill High School.
He has served as president of the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, chairman of the organization's Adolescent Obesity and Inactivity Project and represented the state at the national organization's Congress of Delegates. He also has served on the American Academy of Family Physician's Committee on Rural Health. and has been a member of the board of the Protect Healthcare Now and the Medical Mutual Community Advisory Board.
