MOUNT OLIVE -- An 11-year-old Mount Olive boy was listed in good condition this morning by officials at Wayne Memorial Hospital, after he was brought in Saturday following a fall from a parade float.
Tykwan Garner, of Azalea Drive, was riding on the Mount Olive Hurricanes' team float Saturday at the town's annual Christmas parade when his legs were dragged under the tire near the intersection of Pollock and Center streets.
"It appears that his pant leg got caught by the tire and pulled his legs up under," Mount Olive police Maj. Ralph Schroeder said. "He was on the same float that hit him."
The boy was taken in to Wayne Memorial for treatment, where he spent the weekend recovering from the injuries he sustained in the fall.
