Council to consider land use matters

Rezoning issues, conditional land use requests and a number of site and landscape plans will make up Goldsboro City Council members' short docket Monday, at their first meeting of the month.
The meeting, scheduled for a 7 p.m. start, will be held in the second-floor conference room at City Hall.
Council members are expected to take action on a number of items, including a rezoning request from El-Bethel Assembly.
Members of the assembly are seeking to have their property, located on Greenwood Street, between Hollybrook Avenue and the Greenwood Street Terminus, rezoned from residential to neighborhood business to allow for expansion of their parking area.
After action is taken on that matter, the council will hear two conditional land use requests.
The first, from Wesley Barefoot, involves property located on the west side of Berkeley Boulevard, between Royall Avenue and U.S. 70 East. The second, requested by Jerald Huffman, involves property located on the east side of Berkeley Boulevard, between Ash Street and Graves Drive.
Three site and landscape plans also will require action from the council -- one from the Wayne County Board of Health, one from Philadelphia Church and the other from Geographic Technologies Group.
Council members also are expected to approve the state controlled substance tax remittance for the Goldsboro Police Department.
Upon completion of those items that require individual action, City Manager Joe Huffman and City Attorney Tim Finan will be given an opportunity to speak to those in attendance.
Following their comments, as is their policy, council members will invite members of the public to address questions, concerns and other business with their elected representatives.
Residents who choose to attend Monday's meeting are asked to abide by the rules set forth by the council. Upon entering the chambers, all are asked to turn off or mute all cell phones and pagers.
