Free mental health screenings offered

The Mental Health Association in Wayne County is offering free online mental health screenings, according to Amy Roux, the association's executive director.
The service covers a range of common emotional situations that often go undiagnosed and misunderstood, she said.
"Have you been feeling consistently moody or sad? Can't relax or concentrate? Been alternating between highs and lows? Have you been troubled by unexplained aches and pains? Are you unable to eat or sleep? If so, you may be suffering from a mental health disorder," she said. "If you haven't been feeling like yourself lately, a screening can help you figure out what is wrong."
Screenings for depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder are offered free and year-round. The website address is www.mha-wc.org.
"We are so pleased to be able to offer online screening to the community as part of our community partnership with United Way of Wayne County," Ms. Roux said. "Many people are not able to attend a screening event due to work, school or family commitments.
"The online program offers people the opportunity to take a screening from the comfort of their own home at any time throughout the year."
The screenings are confidential and only the person accessing the information knows the outcome. The website also offers a resource guide for Wayne County services, she added.
