Wayne County sheriff's deputies are searching for two men who robbed Bojangles at gunpoint Tuesday night and ran off with the cash register and $700 in cash.
The armed men walked into the restaurant located on U.S. 117 South about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and ordered the employees and customers to get on the ground.
One of the men aimed a gun at the cashier and demanded that she open the register. The cashier told the robber that she didn't know how to open the register and then called the manager for assistance.
The robber then jumped over the counter, ran to the office and snatched a blue bank deposit bank containing money off the desk.
The other robber snatched the cash register off the counter and ran from the store. A vehicle description was unavailable.
Employees at the store said one of the robbers sounded like an employee who worked there. Employees provided the name of the employee whom they believed to be one of the robbers. However, no charges were immediately filed in the case. The identity of either suspect has not been confirmed.
Anyone with information on the armed robbery is asked to call Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers can remain anonymous and could receive up to $1,000 in cash if information leads to a felony arrest.
