Zoning issues and conditional land use requests are among the items Goldsboro City Council will take up at its final meeting of the month Monday in the second-floor conference room at City Hall.

The meeting, scheduled for a 7 p.m. start, will cover several agenda items, including four public hearings as well as a couple of condemnation and demolition orders.

The first involves property located on the south side of Greenwood Street, near Hollybrook Avenue. The owner, the El-Bethel Assembly, is requesting a change in zoning from residential to neighborhood business.

Two others will focus on conditional land use requests from Wesley Barefoot and Jerald Huffman.

Council will also hold a hearing for the purpose of receiving input from residents on amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance.

At the conclusion of the final public hearing, council will move to its consent agenda, which includes department reports and appointments.

Council members are expected to approve new members for both the Goldsboro-Wayne Transportation Authority (GATEWAY) and the Travel and Tourism Advisory Council.

Near the end of the meeting, Chief Building Inspector Ed Cianfarra will bring one building and two dwellings before the council for official condemnation and demolition orders.

All four structures, located at 927 Greenleaf St., 413 A St., 509 Hickory St. and 1108 Slaughter St., are in dilapidated condition and are not able to be repaired.

The last two items to be covered involve a site and landscape plan and a preliminary subdivision plat from Group W Management.

At the end of the meeting, as is their policy, council members will open the floor to the public. Those who wish to voice concerns, questions or congratulations are encouraged to attend.

Residents are asked to turn off or mute all cell phones and pagers before entering council chambers.
