Drug charge

A 16-year-old Rosewood High School student, Jesse Lee Garner, of Talbert Drive, was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuna and drug paraphernalia after a drug search was requested by the principal. Wayne County Sheriff's Deputies searched the boy with his consent and found a small amount of marijuana, along with a straw that tested positive for the presence of cocaine. The student denied ownership of the items found. He was released to the custody of his mother.

Accidents

*Catherine Joy Hunt, 25, Prince Avenue, was injured Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle accident in the 1600 block of North William Street. She was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment. Lashonda Tavette Sutton, 23, of Fire Tower Road, LaGrange, was charged with a safe movement violation. Damage was set at $5,000.

*Eric David Middleton's vehicle was damaged when he drove into a ditch that had flooded and was obscured due to a heavy downpour about 12:14 p.m. Thursday. Middleton, 37, Lockhaven Drive, was not hurt. The accident, which occurred at Down East Video, 4265 U.S. 70 East, caused $500 in damage.

*Jonathan Louis Joyner's vehicle was damaged when he drove into a flooded ditch about 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Joyner, 21, Manley Grove Church Road, Mount Olive, was not hurt. The accident, which occurred at McCall's, 139 Millers Chapel Road, caused $2,500 in damage.
